You can begin to divide a fraction by multiplying by it's reciprocal. Here are the simple steps with an example of 4/5 divided by 2/6

- Leave the first fraction in the equation alone.: 4/5 is left alone

- Turn the division sign into a multiplication sign. 4/5 x 2/6

- Flip the second fraction over (find its reciprocal). 4/5 x 6/2

- Multiply the numerators (top numbers) of the two fractions together: = 24

- Multiply the denominators (bottom numbers) of the two fractions together: =10

- Simplify as much as you can: 24/10 or 12/5 or 2 2/5

Hope this helped :))

Hello There!

To divide fractions, all you have to do is leave the first fraction alone in the equation but multiply by the reciprocal in the second fraction. This means "Flipped Number" so you flip the numerator and denominator in the second fraction and multiply across then simplify if you need to.
