There are 25 students in Ms. Nguyen's second-grade class. In the class election, 4 students voted for Benjamin, 12 voted for Sahil, and 9 voted for Maria. What percentage of the class voted for Maria?

Your answer would be 36%. This is because 9/25 people voted for Maria, and so to get this as a percentage we must make the denominator 100 by multiplying by 4, and 9 × 4 = 36.
I hope this helps!

Out of 25 students, 9 voted for Maria. Place them as a fraction

9/25 voted for Maria.

Divide:

9/25 = 0.36

To find the percentage, move the decimal point to the right two place values.

0.36 = 36%

36% is the amount that voted for Maria.

hope this helps
