The formula of the total surface area of the cylinder would be: Base area+ surface area along the circumference.

To find an exact value,we would also have to save 兀and not turn it in other approximate values.

The base area would be:
兀r^2
=兀(50)^2
=2500兀 ft^2

The surface area along the circumferecen would be:
2兀r(base circumference) x height
=2兀50×18
=250兀×18
=4500兀 ft^2

Adding them up,we would then find the total surface area:

4500兀+2500兀
=7000丌 ft^2

Thus,the answer is 7000 丌 ft^2.

Hope it helps!

Answer

6800π ft²

Step-by-step explanation

The surface area of a cylinder involves 2 parts.

1) the circular parts (bottom and the top)

2) the curved surface.

The area of the circular parts = 2×π×r²

= 2 × π × 50²

= 5000π ft²

The area of the curved surface = 2πrh

= 2 × π ×50 × 18

= 1800π ft²

The total surface area of the cylinder = 5000π+1800π

= 6800π ft²

I gave the answer in terms of pie (π) to avoid rounding which will make the answer an estimate.

The exact answer is 6800π ft².
