An exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles. For more on this see Triangle external angletheorem. If the equivalent angle is taken at each vertex, the exterior angles always add to 360°

The easiest way to understand this is to take a figure like an equalateral triangle.


The exterior angle of those triangles is 120 degrees. All three are congruent so 120 * 3 = 360o


That's a specific case of a general truth. All triangles have their exterior angles add up to 360o
