-2 the slope is the a value ( in this case 2) in the formula y=ax+b. The value before the x is the slope. So for every x value you increase you go down by 2

Answer: The slope of the given line is -2.

Step-by-step explanation: We are given to find the slope of the line described by the following equation :

y-9=-2(x-8)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(i)

We know that

the slope-intercept form of a straight line is given by

y=mx+c, where m is the slope of the line.

From equation (i), we have

y-9=-2(x-8)\\\\\Rightarrow y-9=-2x+16\\\\\Rightarrow y=-2x+16+9\\\\\Rightarrow y=-2x+25.

Comparing with the slope-intercept form, we get

slope, m = -2.

Thus, the slope of the given line is -2.
