The table below shows vacation preferences of families with children under 16 and over 16:

Summer vacation

Camping Traveling out of state Activities in local area Row totals
At least one child under 16 22 12 36 70
All children 16 or older 17 45 20 82
Column totals 39 57 56 152

Sharon mistakenly calculated the marginal relative frequency for traveling out of state to be 57 out of 100 or 57%. What should Sharon have done, and what is the correct answer? (2 points)

She should have divided 57 by 152: 37.5%

She should have divided 12 by 57: 21%

She should have divided 45 by 57: 79%

She should have divided 45 by 82: 55%

We are asked to find the Marginal relative frequency for traveling out of state.

The formula to find Marginal relative frequency for traveling out of state =

Column total of traveling out of state / Grand Total

= (57/152)

= 0.375

So Sharon should have to divide the column total of traveling out of state by grand total.

The correct answer is 37.5%
