A sample with a pH of 6 is described as a weak acid.
The
pH scale
is used to describe the basicity or acidity of a sample on a logarithmic scale.
Based on the pH value, the substances can be broadly classified as bases, acids or neutral substances.
Further, the substances can be characterized as :
Strong acid (pH 1-2 )
Weak acid ( pH 3-6)
Neutral ( pH 7)
Weak base ( pH 9-11)
A strong base (pH 11-14)
Based on this, a sample with pH 6 will be a weak acid.
