I need help Rounding 59,838 to the nearest thousand

The nearest thousand would be the 9 since it’s in the 1,000 area. So rounding to the nearest thousands means 59,838 would be 60,000 because the 9 is greater then a 5 and pushed the 5 to become a 6. Hope that helps!

You are rounding to the nearest thousand. Look at the place value to the right (hundreds in this case). If it is 5 or greater (as in this case), round up. If it is 4 and lower, round down.


59,838, becomes 60,000.


Note that because it is already a 9, when it is rounded up, it will change the next place value too.


60,000 is your answer
