Answer;

Types of cell division and their purpose;

Binary Fission: (asexual reproduction) A cell simply divides into 2 halves resulting in daughter cells that are genetically identical to each other and the parent cell. Used by Prokaryotes to reproduce

Mitotic Division: (asexual reproduction) generates 2 genetically identical daughter cells from a single parent cell in eukaryotes. Consists of 2 steps: mitosis and cytokinesis

Meiosis: (sexual reproduction) Genetic information from two individuals are combined to produce offspring.

Differences between sexual and asexual reproduction;

In sexual reproduction;

-Offspring is a sum of both parents, egg and sperm fuse to produce DNA with genetic info from both parents, Most mammals and fish produce this way, variations among the resulting offspring are infinite.

-It leads to the higher capacity for adaptation to the changing environment and better defense mechanisms than those of asexually reproduced, gametes have half the chromosomes count of parent cell which is called haploid.

Asexual reproduction;

-Offspring is identical to parent, requires only one parent, almost , all single-celled organisms, plants, and fungi are reproduced this way.

-Somatic cells(same number of chromosomes as parents) diploid, a living organism doesn't have to look for a mate in order to produce offspring. There is no need for grooming, competing, worrying about healthy conditions for raising offspring. The total amount of energy spent by the living organism on asexual reproduction is significantly less than that of sexual reproduction.
