Answer:

The amount of scarf she knits at the end of the trip is:

71288 mm.

Explanation:

The rate at which the scarf is knitten is: 469 mm/hour

If her trip last 8 days and if sara sleeps only 5 hours a day

This means that the number of hours per day she knits the scarf per day is:

24-5=19 hours.

Also, it is done for 8 days.

This means that the total number of hour she knits the scarf is:

19×8=152 hours

Also, the length of the scarf that she knits is:

Rate at which she knits × Total number of hours

= 469×152

= 71288 mm

For this case, the first thing we must do is define variables.

We have then:

x: number of hours

y: Amount of scarf that Sara knits

We then have the following equation that models the problem:

The number of hours during the 8 days is given by:

Substituting the value of x in the ada equation we have:

Answer:

she will knitted by the end of the trip about 52528mm of scarf
