Answer

16 cm²

Step-by-step explanation

The first thing is to find the length XP using pythagoras theorem.

a²=c²-b²

XP² = 10² - (4+2)²

= 100 - 36

= 64

XP =√64

= 8 cm

Area of the shaded = (Area of ΔXYP) - (Area of ΔXZP)

Area of a triangle = 1/2 base length × height

Area of ΔXYP = 1/2 × (4+2) ×8

= 1/2 × 6×8

= 24 cm²

Area of ΔXZP = 1/2 × 2 × 8

= 8 cm²

Rea of the shaded = 24 - 8

= 16 cm²
