Alyssa and Anna bought three toy cars for their three cousins from the store online. The price for one car was $3.83. A shipping fee of $4.55 was added to the total cost. The two girls share the total cost equally. How much did each girl pay?

So, you need to find the total cost of the three toy cards plus the shipping fee.

1 car = $3.83

Shipping fee - $4.55

There are 3 cars

$3.83 (price per car) x 3 (cars) = $11.49 (total)

Now you need to add the shipping fee since the shipping fee was "added to the total cost".

$11.49 (total 3x toy cars) + $4.55 (shipping) = $16.04 (total + shipping)

The two girls shared the total cost equally (total cost = $16.04)

$16.04 (total cost) ÷ 2 (girls) = $8.02

Each girl paid $8.02

Hey!

1 car is $3.83.

3 cars is $3.83 × 3

3.83 × 3 = 11.49

Shipping fee is $4.55. Add that to the price of the 3 cars

11.49 + 4.55 = 16.04

The girls share the cost equally. Divide by 2

16.04 ÷ 2 = 8.02

\framebox{Each girl pays \$8.02}
