*HELP PLEASE*

In a recent year, 29.6% of all registered doctors were female. If there were 46,600 female registered doctors that year, what was the total of registered doctors? ROUND YOUR ANSWER TO THE NEAREST WHOLE NUMBER.

Ok so first you write out the proportions

29.6 46,600

——— = —————

100 x

Then we cross multiply.

29.6x = 4,660,000

Then we multiply both sides by 10 to clear the decimal.

296x = 46,600,000

Then we dived each side by 296

x = 157,432.432432432432

Basically since you can’t have .432432432432 of a doctor, you would just write your answer as

157,432 doctors

Hope this helps!

Divide the number of female doctors by the percentage to find total.

46, 600 / 0.296 = 157,432 total doctors.
