What will be the perimeter and the area of the rectangle below if it is enlarged using a scale factor of 6.5? A rectangle is shown. The length of the rectangle is labeled as 8 cm, and the width is labeled as 6 cm. Perimeter = 54 cm, area = 181.25 cm2 Perimeter = 54 cm, area = 2,028 cm2 Perimeter = 182 cm, area = 2,028 cm2 Perimeter = 182 cm, area = 181.25 cm2

If at all possible, please share any illustration that comes with any problem you choose to post here.

The dimensions of the original rectangle are 6 cm by 8 cm; thus, the area is (6 cm)(8 cm) = 48 cm^2.

The dimensions of the enlarged rectangle are 6*6.5 cm by 8*6.5 cm, or 39 by 52 cm. The area of this rect. is therefore (39 cm)(52 cm) = 2028 cm^2.

The perimeter of the original rectangle is P = 2(6 cm) + 2(8 cm) = 28 cm.

The perimeter of the enlarged rectangle is P = 2(39) + 2(48) = 174 cm.

The correct answer is "perimeter=182 cm, area=2028cm²"

original perimeter=2*(8+6)+28 cm

original area=8*6= 48 cm²

You would have to do the old length and width times the scale factor

Multply both of the width's

8 * 6.5 = 52 cm

scale factor: 6 * 6.5 = 39 cm

To get perimeter = 2(length + width)

2(52+39)=182 cm.

So you would have to do length(52 cm) * width(39 cm)

To get 2028 cm^2

Hope this helps!
