What were quills made out of and what were they used for?

Answer - Quills were made out of moulted flight feathers (mostly from the wings) from a big bird. They were used in the early days for writing. An early form of a pen.



People would sharpen the end of the feather and dip it in ink. It was a form of writing known as calligraphy.
