Valence electrons are located in the outermost shell (main energy level) of an atom. They play an important part in forming bonds with other atoms to make compounds. These electrons cab bond by sharing electrons(covalent bond) or by giving or taking electrons from another atom to achieve a stable outer shel (ionic bond)
