If (9^2)p = 9^8, what is the value of p?

When you're raising a power to a power, you multiply.
Since they are equal the exponent has to be the same.
2p=8; this is the equation we'll use to make sure we get the value of p. Let's divide.
8÷2=4=p

So, p=4.
