Valerie took a job that paid $14 per hour. After a pay raise, she earned $15.05 per hour. Find the percent of increase.

So, first thing you want to do is multiply 14*15.05, which would give us 210.7.

Then, we divide between 100, which would give us 2.107.

And our answer would be: 2.107%.

The percent increase is 7.5%. I found this answer by subtracting the new number by the original number. 15.05 - 14 = 1.05. Then, in order to get the percentage change, you divide the difference by the original number, then multiply it by 100. If the final answer is a negative number it is a percentage decrease, otherwise, it is a percentage increase.
