For any set of outcomes the total probability but be equal to 1, by definition:

`P(total)=1`

We also know that any event and its compliment, for example
`A` and
`not A`, partition the probability space, i.e.:


`P(A)+P(not A)=1`

Therefore:

`P(not A)=1-P(A)`

`P(not A)=1-(3)/(8)`

`P(not A)=(5)/(8)`
