Two equations are given below:

a – 3b = 22
a = b – 2

What is the solution to the set of equations in the form (a, b)?

(–10, –8)
(–12, –10)
(–8, –6)
(–14, –12)

You can fill the second in in the first to get an equation with only b:

(b-2) - 3b = 22 =>

-4b-2 = 22 =>

-4b = 24

b = -6

a = -6-2 = -8

So (-8,-6) is the answer.
