To solve this problem you must apply the proccedure shown below:

1. You have the following sequence of numbers given in the problem above:


4, 8, 12, 20, , 52

2. As you can see, the third term is the sum of the first term and the second term, then, the missing one , which is the fifth term, must be the sum of the third term and the fourth term:


12+20=32

3. Therefore, when you sum the fourth and the fith term, you obtain the last one:


20+32=52

The answer is:
32
