I am assuming you made a typing error and are dividing 2x^2+7x-3 by 2x+5. When you do that with long division, 2x goes into 2x^2 x times. x times 2x is 2x^2 and x times 5 is 5x. Subtracting that gives us -2x. Bring down the 3 and divide 2x into -2x to get 1. Multiply 1 times -2x to get -2x and 1 times 5 to get 5. Subtract that and you have a remainder of 2. The quotient is x - 1, with a remainder of 2, or
x-1R (2)/(2x+5)
