During hydrolysis chemical reaction, a water molecule is consumed for each bond broken. In reverse, a condensation reaction is the making of a bond and production of a water molecule as one of the products. An example of hydrolysis reaction is that of saccharification where a sucrose molecule is broken down into fructose and glucose.
