An office contains 2 printers. Printer B takes 12 minutes longer than Printer A to print a monthly report. Using both printers together, it takes 8 minutes to print the report. How long would it take each printer working alone to print the report?

Hi there!

First, let's set up an expression for each printer:

A: x
B: x + 12

Then, we know that when both printers are printing the report, it only takes 8 minutes. So, when averaged, that is how long it would take for the report to be printed. Here is our equation and solving:

1/2(2x + 12) = 8
x + 6 = 8
x = 2

Now, we know that x equals 2. This means that Printer A takes 2 minutes to print a report and Printer B takes 14 minutes to print a report.

Hope this helps!! :)
