Answer: disproved that life can generate from nonlife
Francesco Redi was an Italian scientists, who disapproved the theory of spontaneous generation, which suggests that life have come from nonliving things. He conducted an experiment to examine the development of maggots by keeping meat in two distinct jars. Out of the two jars one was left open and other was kept covered with cloth. Some days later he observed that the open jar contained maggots, and maggots were absent in covered jar. But maggots were present on the cloth that was used to covered the jar. Therefore, his experiment suggested that the maggots came from the fly eggs, hence, disproved the theory of spontaneous generation.
