4(y - 7) = 12

Simplify both sides:
4(y - 7) = 12

(4)(y) + (4)(- 7) = 12 (Distribute)

4y+ - 28 = 12

4y - 28 = 12

Add 28 to both sides:
4y - 28 + 28 = 12 + 28

4y = 40

Divide both sides by 4:
4y/4 = 40/4

y = 10

Answer: y = 10

Hope that helps!!! ( y = 10)
