The distance from vertex to centroid in a triangle is 2/3 of the length of the median.

AM = (2/3)*12 = 8 units long

Answer:

The length of am is 8 units.

Explanation:

Given that m is the centroid of the triangle bm=2, cm=3 and the median to a is 12 units long.

we have to find the length of am.

The centroid is the point where the three medians of the triangle intersect. It is centroid is located two-third of the distance from the vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side i.e

The Centroid of triangle divided the median in 2:1

Let the length of am is 2x and md is x

Total length of median is 3x

⇒ 3x=12

x=4

Hence, the length of am is 2x=2(4)=8 units.

M is the centroid of the triangle bm=2 cm=3 and the median to a is 12 units long what-example-1
