A car driving on a straight path travels about 260 feet in 3 seconds. Rounded to the nearest second, approximately how many seconds will it take for the car to travel 1 mile at the same rate? 1 mile = 5,280 feet

1 mile = 5,280 feet

Let s = seconds we must find

260/5,280 = 3/s

Hello!

Let's write this as a proportion below.

(feet)/(seconds) = (260)/(3) = (5,280)/(s)

Now we cross multiply and divide to find x.

s= (5,280(3))/(260) = (15840)/(260) ≈ 61

Therefore,the car takes about 61 seconds for the car to drive a mile.

I hope this helps!
