A recipe calls for of a cup of milk for 10 cookies. how many cups of milk are needed to make 60 cookies?

Set this up as a proportion with cups of milk on top and number of cookies on the bottom.
(m)/(c): (1)/(10)= (x)/(60). Cross multiply to get 10x = 60 and x = 6. That means it takes 6 cups of milk to make 60 cookies.
