Hello!
To calculate the slope of a line you use the following equation.
![( y_(2)- y_(1) )/( x_(2)- x_(1) )](https://img.qammunity.org/2019/formulas/mathematics/high-school/ei9a2pe0jgdlpi8ai8vepf8k8mzbzb919k.png)
The ones and twos just represent different points on the line. We will have (0,0) be (
![x_(1) , y_(1)](https://img.qammunity.org/2019/formulas/mathematics/middle-school/c9do2poio8wpp6yjh40cbnjdbqnsamo9jf.png)
) and (6,-2) be (
![x_(2) , y_(2)](https://img.qammunity.org/2019/formulas/mathematics/middle-school/fvps1bjwcx0cc5ij4gqi4duisz37z8m6a0.png)
)
Now we will plug these values into the equation.
![(-2-0)/(6-0) = - (2)/(6) = -(1)/(3)](https://img.qammunity.org/2019/formulas/mathematics/college/7arjp185av1j9jnw82l0ds73y2zgnc40vg.png)
The slope of our line is
![- (1)/(3)](https://img.qammunity.org/2019/formulas/mathematics/college/ipfqvs4s6l2c3vu3bqw0qhnf9u253q0tiv.png)
I hope this helps!
