First thing you have to do with those points is use them in the slope formula to find the slope of the line between those 2 points. Fitting them into the slope formula gives us
m=(8-5)/(-1-2)=(3)/(-3)=-1. The point-slope formula is
y-y_(1)=m(x-x_(1)). The x1 and y1 come from using ONE of the given points and filling in the x coordinate for x1 and the y coordinate for y1. I'll pick the point that's not negative. Either one you pick will give you the same answer as far as the line goes when it's put into slope-intercept form. The point-slope formula is
y-5=-1(x-2). There you go!
