Denise is holding five cards, numbered 1 through 5. She has asked students to pick a card to see who goes first. Whoever picks the 4 card goes first. Carlos picks first and gets the 2 card and keeps the card. What is the probability that the next card will be a 4?

.After 1 card is taken, there are 4 cards left. This means the person has 4 cards to choose from and 1 of the cards is the four card. Probability is defined as the ways something could happen over all possible outcomes. Therefore the probability of the next person drawing the four card is 1/4.
