The law of the jungle is strong on its own, as it teaches responsibility and self-reliance. Using the poem, the author states in one line:

"As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk, the law runneth forward and back;
For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack."

This line gives the idea of a wolf's role in a pack, which can be traced to a modern setting. One such example would be a group member bring a team down by not doing any work. Without all the members putting in effort for the team, the team suffers.
