Step 1: Subtract -8 from both sides.
3x^2+14x-(-8)=-8(-8)
Step 2: Factor left side of the equation
(3x+2)(x+4)=0
Step 3: Set factors equal to 0.
3x+2=0 or x+4=0
x=-2/3 or x=-4
Hopefully this helps you out.
