You have the option to play tennis or a round of golf (but not both). the tennis match requires you to take 2 hours off from work and the round of golf requires you to take 4 hours off from work. playing tennis has value to you equal to $60, while golf has value to you equal to $105. tennis courts are publicly available at no cost, but golf costs $30 per round. suppose your wage from working is $8 per hour.

Answer:

Play Tennis because it gives higher return than Golf.

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculation:

Net return = Pay – cost

So,

Net return for Tennis = $60 – (2 hours* $8 per hour) = $44

Net return for golf = $105 - $30 – (4 hours * $8 per hour) = $43

Since, Tennis is giving more return than Golf, so we’d choose to play Tennis.

However, the Golf pays more but the costs associated with it are higher and lowering the net profit.

Plus, the hours involved in playing Golf are also higher than in Tennis, so the best option to choose is Tennis with $44 net returns – more profitable.

Net benefit from playing tennis=$60-($8*2)= $60-$16= $44
Net benefit from playing golf= $105-$30-($8.4)= $75-$32= $43
The answer is: it would be more profitable to play the tennis.
But since golf it is only $1 less than the tennis. I would think you can choose the one you love the most.
