Six less than a number squared ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION HELP

Hey!
So it is 6 less than a number squared. a number will be represented as x. So we know that there is a 6 and an x^2. What we need to figure out is whether it is 6-x^2 or x^2 - 6
well its asking 6 less than a number squared which means after a number is squared subtract 6.
so the answer is x^2 - 6

Call the number to be squared = x
Then the expression is x^2 - 6
