Jenna has a rectangular fish tank. The length of the tank is 18", the width is 12", and the height is 10" If the tank is presently filled with water to the six inch mark, what fraction of the tank is filled?

Hi!

Let's find the volume of the fish tank. To do that we need to multiply the length times the width times the height.
18 x 12 x 10 = 2160

Now find the volume of the water, by changing the height value from 10, to 6, because the height of the water is 6 inches.
18 x 12 x 6 = 1296


(1296)/(2160)
Simplify the fraction

(3)/(5)

The answer is
(3)/(5)
