Answer:

Hi!

The correct answer is 2 1/12 miles.

*I suppose that C is misswritten and the correct option is C) 2 1/12.*

Explanation:

To solve this problem you have to the equation:

(2)/(3) + (1)/(4) + x = 3, where x is the miles of road that they still have to build this week.

(2)/(3) + (1)/(4) + x = 3

(11)/(12) + x = 3 // add 2/3 to 1/4.

(11)/(12) - (11)/(12) + x = 3 - (11)/(12) // substract 11/12 in both sides of equation.

x = (25)/(12) = 2(1)/(12)

The answer is 2 1/12 miles.

Answer: B) 11/12

It'd be better to show work to understand how you got the answer just in case you come across a similar problem.

You'd have to find a common denominator.
When it comes to 3 and 4, it's usually 12.

3 x 4 = 12
4 x 3 = 12

2 x 4 = 8
1 x 3 = 3

8/12 + 3/12 = 11/12
