The best thing to do is to multiply both sides by 2 to get rid of the fraction. That leaves you with 8x=x^2+4x-12. We will subtract the 8x and set the polynomial equal to 0 to factor.
0=x^2-4x-12. Factor that however you deem the easiest, to get x values of x = 6 and x = -2.
