1. How did the invention of the cotton gin affect slavery in the United States?

(did it create more or less demand for slaves, and explain why)

The cotton gin was the invention that caused the demand for slaves because made it so cleaning cotton was easier and faster to do. In the United States, this increased dramatically. Since there were lots of slaves, it improved the ease so cotton can then be produced.

Actually it increased it, making the cotton business easier to get into. They bought more slaves to pick and use the cotton. So ya, most would say less demand, but nooooope
