Read the following excerpt from “The Cask of Amontillado” and answer the question.

At the most remote end of the crypt there appeared another less spacious. Its walls had been lined with human remains, piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris. Three sides of this interior crypt were still ornamented in this manner. From the fourth side the bones had been thrown down, and lay promiscuously upon the earth, forming at one point a mound of some size.

The passage above provides a description of which story element?

Seeing as how the narrator is describing a place I would have to go out on a limb and say setting

Answer: D) Setting.

Explanation: The setting of a story or a text is the place and time where the story takes place, it can also be the context of the story (political, historical, cultural, etc). In the given excerpt from "The Cask of Amontillado" we can see the description of a place, specifically a crypt. We can see detailed descriptions like "Its walls had been lined with human remains" and "Three sides of this interior crypt were still ornamented in this manner."
