Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was born on 11 December in 1918 in Russia. He is known for his novels, short story writer and as a historian. He became famous after he wrote about the Gulag labour camp system where he spends his eight years in the camp. Later he was sent for an internal exile which reduced due to Nikita Khrushchev’s reforms. His famous writing One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich along with Gulag Archipelago won him a reputation and also a Nobel Prize in literature in 1970.
