-Stratovolcanoes are tall, shield volcanoes are broad.
-Stratovolcanoes have highly explosive eruptions, shield volcanoes have non-explosive lava that can travel long distances over its sides.
-Fertile soils surround both volcanoes.
-Both are found on plate margins and “hot spots”.
