Take 1/7 times 2 to create 2/14. Add 2/14 to 3/14 to get 5/14.

Find the same denominator. Remember that what you do to the top, you do to the bottom
1/7(2/2) = 2/14
2/14 + 3/14 = 5/14
5/14
is your answer
hope this helps
