The war was not being fought in Australia's territories, therefor did not have civilian casualties.

The reason why Australia registered no civilian death during WW1 is because the war was not fought in their lands. Being a member of the commonwealth, the country only contributed forces to fight for the crown like any other country that was part of the British empire by the time.
