For a square,

A = s^2

s^2 = A

s^2 = 224 ~sq ~ft

s = √(224~sq~ft)

s = √(16 * 14)~ft

s = 4√(14)~ft

The exact length of each side is
4 √(14)~ft which is 14.97 ft rounded off to the nearest hundredth.
