For the top: 10(4-7), distribute the 10 to both 4 and -7

10(4) = 40
10(-7) = -70

For the bottom, - is the same as - 1

Distribute -1 to both 4 and -1

-1(4) = -4
-1(-1) = 1

(40 - 70)/(-4 + 1)

Simplify. combine the terms.

40 - 70 = -30
-4 + 1 = -3

Divide:
-30/-3 = 10

D. 10 is your answer

hope this helps
