Let's shorten
P^(-1)(v) to just P so it's easier to work with. To find the inverse of a function, you switch the x and the y coordinates (here we have P and v) and solve for the new y. Here, we are given the inverse of the original. But no matter. We will just take the inverse of the inverse which will give us the original function. The inverse is
P= (1)/(2) v-7. We will switch our variables and solve for the new P.
v= (1)/(2) P-7. Add 7 to both sides to get
v+7= (1)/(2)P, and then multiply both sides by 2 to get the final answer of 2(v+7)=P, first choice above.
