Answer:-The residual plot in the second graph is the correct one for the data.


Explanation:-

  • A residual is the difference between the given value and the predicted value. It is the vertical distance from the given point to the point on the regression line.

From the given table,

At x=1 ,

Residual = given value - predicted value= -0.7-(-0.28)= -0.7+0.28= -0.42

At x=2

Residual= 2.3-1.95=0.35

At x=3 ,

Residual = 4.1-4.18= -0.08

At x=4 ,

Residual =7.2-6.41=0.79

At x=5 ,

Residual =8-8.64= -0.64
