Tenskwatawa (the prophet) "led a religious revival among western tribes", while his brother tecumseh "led a military alliance among western tribes".
Tenskwatawa was a Native American religious and political leader of the Shawnee clan. He was a younger brother of Tecumseh, a leader of the Shawnee. Tenskwatawa reviled the Euro-American pilgrims, calling them posterity of the Evil Spirit, and drove a sanitization development that advanced solidarity among Native Americans, rejected cultural assimilation to the pioneer lifestyle, including liquor, and urged his adherents to seek after customary ways. He was known as a Prophet.
